Titrants
Our titration reagents (titrants) are certified against the National Institute of
Standards Technology (NIST) primary standards. We do not standardize against another reagent that
has been itself standardized—the reagents are assayed using only traceable NIST Standard Reference
Material.
Certified reagents include:
- HCl
- AgNO3
- NaOH
- KOH in IPA
- HClO4 in glacial acetic acid
- Na2S2O3
- H2SO4
- Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2
- KOH in MeOH
- HCl in IPA
- ETDA
- KOH
- Iodine

Certification
- Each case contains a certificate of analysis that documents the assay, including all relevant
titration data
- Assays are performed by potentiometric, endpoint-seeking titration
- No color indicators are used
- Lot certification—involves the random selection of five bottles and the performance of
a potentiometric titration directly against NIST Standard Reference Material
- The reported certified values are the mean of the five random samples
- The reported uncertainty of the certified value is estimated as 2s/sqrt(n)
- Solutions are homogeneous at the 95% confidence level—verified by the analysis of five
random samples, tested in duplicate
- Certification and validation procedures consistent with ISO Guide 35 and Brinkmann/Metrohm Application
