Coulometric Reagents
Reagents for coulometric determinations
Coulometric reagents are available for the diaphragm cell in which the anolyte and
catholyte components are separated; or the diaphragmless cell in which the anolyte and catholyte components
are combined in one solution. The type of reagent and cell are primarily dictated by application.
For most applications, the single-solution diaphragmless cell is the most convenient, economical,
and the cell is easy to clean. Certain applications, such as aldehydes, ketones and low-conductivity
substances (e.g., oils), require the use of the diaphragm cell and separated reagents.
- Coulomat “AD”-type or “AG”-type reagents are ideal for Metrohm®
coulometric cells without diaphragm
- Coulomat AG-H contains long-chained alcohols to dissolve nonpolar substances
- Reagents for Karl Fischer ovens reduce the possibility of evaporation and burning
