Automated accuracy and precision
Automation of the Karl Fischer analysis yields two powerful benefits:
- First, the 774 Oven Sample Processor requires minimal preparation, so you are free to perform
other tasks in the lab
- Perhaps more important is the increase in accuracy and precision as well as the reduction
of bias in the results
With the 774 KF Oven Sample Processor, the same procedure is followed every time, regardless
of the technique of the operator, which ensures consistency and reproducibility.
The 774 KF Oven Sample Processor combines the proven reliability of Metrohm Sample Processors
with the application range of a Karl Fischer oven. Samples are kept in vials on the sample rack.
The vials are then placed, one at a time, into a heating chamber and purged with dried air or nitrogen
gas. This gas stream quantitatively transports all the moisture into the titration cell. Moisture
content is then determined automatically either coulometrically or volumetrically. |
For added convenience, choose our optional reagent exchange package featuring our
Metrohm Dosino®, for a simple exchange of the KF reagent once it is exhausted.
The system will regularly monitor the KF cell to determine if the reagent needs replacement.
If the reagent needs to be exchanged, the system will automatically empty and rinse the vessel, add
fresh solution and condition the cell before continuing with the next sample—without any operator
intervention. This results in shorter conditioning times and limited user handling of KF solutions.
Features:
- Oven method increases the lifetime of the Karl Fischer reagent and eliminates side reactions
and cell contamination
- Individually capped, disposable sample vials offer a virtually new oven for each sample—reduces
clean-up and the chances of contamination and sample carryover
- Wide temperature range from 50°C to 250°C
- Removable turntable rack—allows you to prepare sample vials near a balance and/or PC (weigh
your sample, crimp and start)
- Uses either air or nitrogen gas
