Intelligent reagent dosing
Now you have a choice when it comes to reagent dosing: use traditional Exchange
Units, or try a new concept in dosing—Metrohm’s 800 Dosino®.
A titration is only as accurate as its reagent dosing system, and the new 800 Dosino
sets new standards with regard to reliability. The Dosino works upside-down—with the piston
moving from top to bottom; air bubbles remain at the top, near the piston, so there’s almost
no chance a small air bubble will move into the tubing and adversely affect your titration results.
This fresh design still retains Metrohm’s reputation for accuracy or ruggedness: the Dosino
has a 10,000 step resolution (1 µl resolution for a 10 ml buret), and it is made of chemically
resistant components.

The Dosino is a space-saving revolution in bottletop design: two Dosinos fit in the
same space as one Exchange Unit. Titrando models 809, 836, and 841 use Dosinos to dispense titrants,
incorporating holders for two Dosinos with one-liter bottles without risk of tipping over. An optional
holder expands the system to four Dosinos, which stabilizes two additional Dosinos on the benchtop
next to Titrando. Rinsing and preparation of the buret can be carried out automatically, which eliminates
manual dismantling and rinsing. Did we forget to mention safe and convenient?
Each Dosino buret has a state-of-the-art SmartChip, which stores the serial number,
titrant ID, buret volume, titrant standardization history and more. As soon as the Dosino is connected,
it communicates this information to Titrando. Model 801 and 804 Stirrers also contain built-in SmartChips
to identify each component of the system. If a sample is begun without the correct reagent or peripherals
connected, Titrando will stop, communicate an error alert, and provide suggestions for corrective
action.
In addition, the newly developed Dosinos offer the following advantages:
- Every buret is provided with serial and cylinder numbers and supplied with a certificate of its
own
- Titrando checks for the correct titrant, including its working life and need for standardization;
this ensures that work is always carried out with the accurate standardization value

Exchange Unit Model 806
The accurate, new 806 Exchange Unit (for use with 808 and 835 Titrandos and 805
Dosimat) dispenses reagents with the unique resolution of 20,000 steps per cylinder volume (0.5
µl resolution for a 10 ml Exchange Unit). It’s rugged too—made of chemically
resistant, quality components to withstand even the harshest lab conditions. The tray is solidly
constructed, and it will not bend or twist. The Exchange Unit’s built-in holders for the
dispensing tip and electrode are distanced from electronic parts to avoid damage from spillage.
These Exchange Units, which are available in 1 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml, 20 ml, and 50 ml sizes, can be
used with your existing Metrohm Titrinos® or Dosimats. Each Exchange
Unit has a unique serial number and a cylinder number, and it is delivered with an individual quality
certificate.
