| Metrohm® 841 Volumetric Karl
Fischer Titrando®
Operation
The 841 KF Titrando’s easy and intuitive interface makes Titrando the ideal instrument for
routine operation as well as for applications in research labs. For example, the on-screen icons show
you at a glance whether the instrument is still busy conditioning or the conditioning is complete
and you can start the water determination.
 |
The iodine drop indicates KF reagent addition during conditioning |
 |
“OK” indicates conditioning is finished and the sample can be added |
The electrode test and the new “safety stop” feature prevent cell run-over during conditioning.
For example, if the titration cell is very humid, then conditioning is stopped after a given time
or after a given volume of KF reagent is added.
Touch Control or PC control

| Touch Control |
PC control with bottletop Dosino |
Titrando’s large color Touch Control allows you to easily view items such as
color graphs and calibration history. The Touch Control features large touch screen buttons as well
as fixed buttons to quickly access «Start», «Stop», «Home Page»,
«Back», «Print», «Help» and «Manual Control». Its
simple, intuitive style makes navigating Titrando fun and easy.
The Touch Control display is chemical-resistant with a protective transparency that
can easily be exchanged if needed. The PC data card—used to store methods and data and designed
to be an individual user keycard as well—is inserted into the back of the Touch Control, where
a cover protects it from accidental spillage.
Titrando can also be controlled directly from a PC—without the need for the
Touch Control—using Metrohm Tiamo™ titration software.
Take advantage of the extra storage capacity of a PC and a full-sized computer monitor.
Additional modes
The SET mode performs potentiometric titrations to a preset endpoint (pH value or
potential). Typical applications of the SET mode are the determinations of p and m values in water
analysis.
Ready-to-use methods for pH measurement and electrode calibration are pre-installed.
The resolution of the electrode input is 0.001 pH, which is identical to the precision of a pH meter.
In addition, the electrode characteristics and the “calibration history” of each sensor
are memorized. Naturally, as with any pH meter, you can also measure potential (mV) and temperature.
Data management is knowledge management
For data storage and transfer, Titrando is a state-of-the-art instrument:
- Data from Titrando can be printed out directly to a USB-connected printer
- Data and methods can be stored directly on a PC data card
- Titrando can also send a machine-readable report directly to LIMS
Regardless of the type of data storage and retrieval chosen, all information regarding
the system’s hardware connections and the method parameters is stored with each individual analysis.
Have you ever wanted to export data directly to your LIMS system without the need
for a PC? Metrohm® 825 Lab Link allows you to do just that by connecting
directly to an Ethernet port. It opens up internal networks (Intranet, LIMS, LAN) to Titrando and
makes it Internet-compatible. Tools such as NuGenesis® Scientific Data
Management System, eRecordManager, and CyberLAB™ can be used for long-term storage—without
connection to a local PC. Another application of Lab Link is to download methods from a website directly
to the titrator, so you can share methods throughout your company.
Online help—searching through manual is a thing of the past
Now the answers to your questions are right at your fingertips with the Touch Control’s
permanent «Help» button. It provides full text information and guidance for the active
screen. If Titrando senses an error anywhere in the system, a full text error message is displayed
along with a suggested corrective action. |
