Reagents for Moisture Analysis
Since 1979, Riedel-de Haën has been innovating Karl
Fischer reagent to eliminate or replace the traditionally unpleasant and
hazardous components. HYDRANAL® is the brand
name of Karl Fischer reagents offered by Riedel-de Haën Laboratory
Chemicals.
Features
- Broadest selection of volumetric and coulometric reagents and water
standardsdesigned to meet application-specific requirements
- Contains no pyridine or carbon tetrachloridesafe and environmentally
friendly. Most reagents are also free of 2-methoxyethanol and halogenated
hydrocarbons. The new E-type reagents significantly reduce
or eliminate the use of methanol.
- Supported by the Brinkmann Instruments Applications Laboratoryspecialists
are available to answer your questions and to help solve water analysis
problems
One-component Reagents for Volumetric Titrations
- All reactants (iodine, sulfur dioxide, and imidazole) are in a single
solution and use methanol as the solvent
- Unopened bottles have a minimum shelf life of two years
- Choose from Composite 5, Composite 2, or Composite 1 depending on
your expected moisture content
Two-component Reagents for Volumetric Titrations
- Components are separated out into titrants and solvents, working in
pairsthe separate solutions result in virtually unlimited shelf
life
New E-type Volumetric Reagents
- Eliminate or significantly reduce the use of methanol and halogenated
hydrocarbons
- Must be used in conjunction with liquid standards (works best with
liquid samples)
- Suitable for use with some long-chained hydrocarbons and some ketones
- Two-component systemconsists of Titrant 5E and Solvent E
- For one-component reagentsCompoSolver replaces methanol

Reagents
for Coulometric Determinations
- AD or AG type reagentsideal for Metrohm
coulometric cells without diaphragm separating the anolyte and catholyte
- Reduces halogenated hydrocarbon contentsome contain long-chained
alcohols to dissolve non-polar substances
- Reagents for two-component coulometric cells and aldehyde/ketone analysis
are also available
- Reagents for Karl Fischer ovens are availablereduce the possibility
of evaporation and burning
Certified Water Standards, Buffers, and Solvents
- Liquid standards in 0.10, 1.00, and 10.00 mg/g concentrations with
a certificate of analysis
- Solid/powdered standards include sodium tartrate 2-hydrate and sodium
citrate 1-hydrate
- Buffers and solvents available for aldehyde/ketone samples, samples
requiring pH adjustment, and for improving sample dissolution
