Accessories
Selecting an appropriate capillary is the most important
consideration in any viscosity measurement. With manual systems, a capillary
is chosen to achieve run times between 200 and 300 seconds and to eliminate
effects of laminar flow and turbulence. The Lauda®
PVS system eliminates this requirement by automatically applying the Hagenbach
correction factor when calculating viscosity. Run times from 60 to 250 seconds
can be used for accurately determining viscosity.
Brinkmann offers a complete selection of capillary viscometers:
Ubbelohde, Cannon-Fenske, Micro-Ubbelohde, Micro-Ostwald, or Ubbelohde dilution
type viscometers.
To rinse or wash viscometers containing solutions with
viscosities of 200cSt or less, capillaries for on-line rinsing can be used.
These capillaries have an additional tube for complete aspiration of test solution
and rinsing solvent from the capillary. They are only available as Ubbelohde
or Cannon-Fenske viscometers.
